ChatID is an embeddable chat app that lets e-commerce shoppers connect with product experts on retailer product pages while integrating with existing chat providers (Olark, LivePerson, Salesforce, etc.). As ChatID scaled across brands and retailers, they needed a backend that could absorb massive volumes of time-series events from their JavaScript client and still provide fast, reliable querying for customer analytics and internal event monitoring.

They adopted InfluxDB to store the time-series data, which handled the high write throughput and delivered consistently fast queries; ChatID even built a Python SQL query generator to compose queries across their data models. The result was a performant analytics pipeline that met scale needs and proved simple to operate and maintain.
