How Kedrion Reimagined Their Blood Fractionation Suite to Improve Speed, Quality, and Safety

Kedrion Biopharma, an international producer of plasma-derived therapeutics, needed to completely rebuild and modernize its blood fractionation suite control system and network infrastructure. They engaged vendor InflexionPoint to upgrade the system for greater flexibility and robustness, moving beyond a simple replication of the old setup.

InflexionPoint redeveloped the entire PLC and SCADA applications from scratch using a modular S88 approach and installed a new distributed network architecture. This solution provided built-in redundancy for automatic failover, which increased system uptime and resiliency. The new design allows Kedrion to schedule maintenance on one production suite without affecting the other, saving significant downtime costs.
