Miami Beach Cut Liabilities at Parking Structures

The Miami Beach Parking Department needed a way to reduce liability across its six multi-level garages while also improving employee oversight. Cars were being vandalized, stolen, or involved in accidents, and the city wanted a documentation system that could capture incidents and driver activity. Vendor Infinova provided the surveillance technology used in the project, including cameras and DVRs.

Infinova’s solution was a visible video surveillance system designed to monitor entrances and exits, drive lanes, and down ramps, with images stored on SAN-connected servers. The system captured vehicles, license plates, and driver faces, helping the department document claims, assign fault in accidents, and deter vandalism and theft. The case study reports that Infinova helped Miami Beach dramatically reduce car theft and vandalism, with one garage storing up to 120 days of footage at 7 fps for claim investigation and review.
