Los Angeles Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) Upgrades Security Surveillance With Infinova PTZ Domes and Fiber Optics

Los Angeles Metropolitan Transport Authority (Los Angeles MTA) needed to secure a 73-mile rail system serving about 300,000 riders a day, but its small monitoring team of fewer than 40 staff members could not watch everything effectively around the clock. To extend coverage and reduce manual workload, the agency turned to Infinova for a surveillance upgrade centered on PTZ dome cameras, discrete day/night cameras, and fiber optics.

Infinova installed more than 450 PTZ dome cameras across platforms, rails, and other facilities, along with 700+ mini-domes in train cars and 114 discreet fixed cameras in driver cabs. The solution reused existing coaxial cabling, added fiber optic transmitters/receivers, and delivered major savings in installation, rack space, and cost while improving system coverage and control for the Los Angeles MTA.
