Lin Engineering uses cloud-based quality control to monitor overseas facility

Lin Engineering, a U.S. manufacturer of hybrid step motors with a production facility in Nanjing, faced the challenge of ensuring consistent, high-quality parts from its overseas operations and avoiding costly returns to China. To support its 4.5 Sigma continuous-improvement goals it sought a Statistical Process Control (SPC) solution and selected InfinityQS and its cloud deployment, ProFicient On Demand, to provide real-time quality monitoring and analytics.

InfinityQS deployed ProFicient On Demand to collect SPC data from the China facility, send automated email alerts for out-of-spec events, and display control-chart trends for key motor parameters. As a result, Lin Engineering significantly reduced defects on finished goods, cut inspection requirements, and gained executive-level visibility into process capability and supplier performance — enabling faster corrective actions and greater confidence in meeting customer requirements.
