Greater efficiency, less scrap, and happier customers for Baldor Electric Company

Baldor Electric Company, a global manufacturer of industrial electric motors and power-transmission products, faced a corporate mandate to improve gauging and measurement accuracy, shorten production cycle times, reduce scrap costs, and make inspections faster and more accurate. To support that initiative Baldor selected InfinityQS and its ProFicient SPC software to standardize SPC monitoring, improve gauging methods, and give operators enterprise-wide access to process data and analysis tools.

InfinityQS implemented ProFicient across inner-ring machining, grinding and other cells, replacing secondary gauges and handwritten logs with SPC monitor and capability charts, shared check sheets, and data-driven decision processes. The rollout cut inner-ring cycle times by about 15% (roughly 2,511 production hours saved annually), reduced machined inner-ring variation from ±.002” to ±.0002”, produced 66% and 63% annual dollar savings in reduced scrap in different areas (13% overall scrap-cost reduction), and helped drive a 48% drop in warranty claims — measurable quality and cost improvements from InfinityQS’s solution.
