Joplin School District, serving 7,743 students, faced catastrophic disruption when an EF-5 tornado destroyed six schools, damaged four more, and wiped out the district’s off‑site backup vault and data center connectivity. In the immediate chaos the district’s top priority was locating students and staff and restoring communications; Infinite Campus (through its Campus Hosting service) and channel partner Computer Information Concepts (CIC) reached out to offer recovery support.
Infinite Campus’ Campus Hosting retrieved nightly backups from its Minnesota data center, used cloud communications to deliver demographic data by Monday morning and spun up a disaster recovery website within hours, while CIC provided local support. As a result, leaders could contact students, staff and families quickly, bring Infinite Campus and email servers up on generators for six days, open two buildings for summer school by June 6, and start the fall term on schedule with only minimal report loss.
