Township IT team brings needed storage performance to diverse server applications

Gemeente Velsen, the IT organization serving two Dutch municipalities (about 700 users and ~170 VMs on VMware), faced growing storage-performance problems as diverse Windows, Linux and web applications competed for IOPS. Legacy NetApp filers produced latencies above 1000 ms, causing timeouts and user complaints, and budget constraints made buying more storage capacity an unattractive option.
