Orthopedic surgery practice improves VDI latency and density with Infinio Accelerator

OrthoTennessee is a 60‑year orthopedic practice with 10 locations and a centralized IT team of eight that supports clinicians and administrative staff across dozens of systems. After moving about 100 users to VMware View VDI on a Dell Compellent SAN, the practice struggled with a prior software caching solution that added operational complexity—maintenance and upgrades frequently caused hours of downtime and host failures that knocked out a large portion of virtual desktops.

The IT team piloted and then deployed Infinio Accelerator with a seamless install and gradual rollout. Steady‑state VDI latency fell from about 7ms to 3ms and peak latency dropped fivefold, while operational headaches disappeared. OrthoTennessee avoided buying flash drives, gained roughly 20% memory efficiency per ESXi host (enabling an estimated 60 additional desktops without new hardware), and can now make changes and scale VDI more easily.
