Comtec powers its production environment for IaaS customers with Infinio

Comtec Enterprises Ltd, a Surrey, U.K.-based provider of infrastructure-as-a-service, data center and communications solutions, was seeing SAN performance degrade as its IaaS customer base grew. High storage latency and low throughput caused slow remote desktops, disrupted vSphere vMotion operations, and threatened service quality for hosted Exchange, SQL Server and ecommerce workloads; costly hardware upgrades or disruptive infrastructure changes were not acceptable.

Comtec ran a non-disruptive 30-day trial of Infinio Accelerator and deployed it without new hardware or retraining. Infinio offloaded about 84% of read I/O, cut latency by up to eight times, increased throughput, and extended the life of the existing SAN—allowing Comtec to postpone a large hardware purchase and deliver noticeably better application responsiveness (notably faster ecommerce checkout). The company plans to pair Infinio with future SSD additions and may resell the solution to customers.
