Virgin Media Business Develops High-capacity Services Based on Infinera Technology

Virgin Media Business needed to increase network capacity, reduce latency, and support multiple protocol services over long distances while making better use of its nationwide optical fiber network. Working with Infinera, it deployed the Infinera XTM Series to power its High Capacity Services and deliver protected, high-availability bandwidth for demanding enterprise customers.

Infinera’s solution included low-latency transponders and muxponders, multi-service muxponders on a single wavelength, and advanced ROADM-based optical and Ethernet capabilities. The deployment helped Virgin Media Business support multiple applications over a single network, improve its service proposition, and gain more than 25 new HCS customers, generating over £10 million in new business in its first year alone.
