SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ High-capacity Infinera Network Enables 5G Across the U.K.

SSE Enterprise Telecoms, one of the fastest growing network operators in the U.K., needed to deploy a high-capacity, high-performance virtual network for Three UK to support 5G growth and upgrade existing 4G connectivity. To meet that challenge, it turned to Infinera and its XTM Series platform to deliver the bandwidth, low-latency performance, and synchronization required for mobile wholesale services.

Infinera implemented a fully ROADM-based optical layer with Layer 1 and Layer 2 transport options, including 200 Gb/s coherent DWDM, 100 Gb/s services through the 400 Gb/s Flexponder, 10 Gb/s services via the 200 Gb/s Muxponder, and Layer 2 aggregation with the EMXP440. The result was reliable, dedicated, high-capacity connectivity with the scalability and flexibility needed to differentiate SSE Enterprise Telecoms in a competitive market, while supporting nationwide 5G and Ethernet growth across the U.K.
