New High Capacity 100 Gb/s Network for Hong Kong

Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC), a fixed-line operator serving Hong Kong’s banking, corporate, and wholesale markets, needed a major upgrade of its primary network. The company wanted a highly flexible, scalable, cost-effective, low-latency infrastructure that could support growing traffic across Hong Kong while also dealing with space and power constraints.

Infinera proposed a flexible all-optical network design using the TM-Series optical networking platform and Transport Network Manager, replacing the initial alternative proposals. The solution delivered 10 Gb/s, 40 Gb/s, and 100 Gb/s services over the same infrastructure, with lower power consumption, a smaller footprint, greater control, and ultra-low latency; the project was also recognized as Telecom Asia’s Core Network Innovation of the Year.
