Infinera’s Intelligent Transport Network Enables Windstream’s Wave Transport Service Expansion

Windstream, a leading U.S. provider of network communications and technology solutions, needed to expand the bandwidth of its long-haul express network while keeping operations easy to manage so it could launch new services quickly. To meet growing demand for high-speed consumer and business services, Windstream turned to Infinera and its Intelligent Transport Network, including the DTN-X XTC-10 Platform and related turnkey services.

Infinera helped Windstream scale network bandwidth, accelerate service delivery, and simplify operations through 100G-capable WDM expansion, Instant Bandwidth, bandwidth virtualization, and automated control-plane features. As a result, Windstream expanded its express network by 9,500 miles, now offers 100G Wave transport services in 44 markets across the continental U.S., and can deliver up to 8T of bandwidth per fiber while improving service velocity and avoiding growth in network operations staff.
