EllaLink Powers Low-latency Trans-Atlantic Cable System with Infinera ICE6

EllaLink, a submarine cable system linking Portugal and Brazil, needed secure, high-capacity, low-latency connectivity over a direct single-hop transmission path between Europe and Latin America. To meet that challenge, it worked with Infinera and its ICE6 800G coherent technology on the GX Series Compact Modular Platform.

Infinera’s ICE6 solution powered the 6,000-km EllaLink cable with up to 100 Tb/s of total capacity and wavelength speeds between 500 Gb/s and 700 Gb/s. The direct Sines-to-Fortaleza route cut latency roughly in half compared with existing high-capacity routes, creating the first high-capacity direct link between the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
