Surf Telecoms, a UK carrier and communications provider, needed to increase the capacity, reach, and coverage of its optical network to meet growing bandwidth demand and extend service into the UK Midlands. Infinera provided the TM-Series packet-optical platform, including a multi-service access solution, packet optical transport switches, network management, and pre-staging services.

Infinera designed and delivered a scalable DWDM-based network with protected 40-channel rings, ROADM support, and centralized management, enabling Surf Telecoms to carry Ethernet, SDH, E1, and IP services on the same infrastructure. The result was a robust, resilient network with faster deployment, simplified troubleshooting, and lower operating costs, while the rollout added more than 1,100 km of network coverage and enabled traffic switching in under 50 milliseconds.
