A InetSoft Case Study
Assembly is a New Zealand–built, web-based school management system (Assembly SMS) launched in 2010 that centralizes student data, finance, attendance, assessment and reporting. The company struggled with caregiver reports—individually produced summaries for each student—because their Jasper Reports setup couldn’t generate the volume or flexibility required (over 50,000 reports at peak) without developer involvement, and they also wanted integrated interactive dashboards and administrative reporting accessible to non-technical staff.
Assembly selected InetSoft Style Intelligence for its Data Block and template capabilities, white-labeled the portal, and delivered web-accessible interactive dashboards and printable reports for teachers and administrators. The solution enabled rapid, reusable report templates (often created in as little as two hours), supported 100+ caregiver report styles, enforced school-level security, and worked on mobile devices. The result was efficient high-volume reporting, greater school-level customization, improved data-driven decision making, and strong positive feedback from schools and the Ministry of Education.
