How Victoria Is Keeping Its North East Link Program On Target With Standardised Project Controls

The Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) faced the challenge of running multiple large-scale projects—including the North East Link Project—while different project offices used inconsistent processes and technologies that hindered benchmarking, reporting and efficient use of public funds. As part of its AU$110 billion Connect Program to standardise project controls and information flows, MTIA adopted a preferred collaboration platform from InEight, requiring suppliers to submit tenders and updates through InEight Document to ensure consistent data exchange.

InEight supported MTIA by providing InEight Document as the standard collaboration tool and enabling a single, consolidated way to capture and share project data. This helped MTIA align processes, establish centres of practice, report consistently to the Office of the Director General, and create the conditions for accurate cross-department benchmarking. The result: streamlined collaboration, improved data quality, and increased efficiency—including automation of low‑value tasks—positioning MTIA to better deliver megaproject outcomes such as the North East Link Project.
