Sierra Nevada Brewery Co., the sixth largest brewery in the United States, needed a better way to access production data and manage requests across the plant. Before working with Inductive Automation, the company struggled with slow development for reporting and data access, and its team was hesitant to introduce new software into a 24/7 fermentation environment. Inductive Automation’s FactorySQL and FactoryPMI were chosen to support data acquisition and production reporting.

Using Inductive Automation’s software, Sierra Nevada Brewery Co. connected PLC data, SQL production databases, lab test data, and workflow information into web-launched client screens that could be accessed from any PC in the plant. The result was a major improvement in visibility and coordination, especially for filtration-to-packaging workflow, and the company was able to move faster than users could absorb the new features. While no hard metrics were given, the impact was clear: easier operation, better communication across departments, and faster access to critical production information.
