A Inductive Automation Case Study
Qorvo, a global provider of RF solutions with a semiconductor fab in Heredia, Costa Rica, needed a better way to access data from its production machines. The plant’s existing process was highly manual and labor-intensive, with operators tracking equipment status, downtimes, recipes, and inspection results across spreadsheets and websites, making it difficult to adapt quickly to changing production requirements.
Working with Inductive Automation and system integrator NV Tecnologías, Qorvo implemented Ignition with the SECS/GEM Module to connect fab equipment directly to its database and automate data collection. The new solution improved analysis, production, and maintenance, reduced one inspection from 45 minutes to 30 minutes, enabled operators to view the status of 20 dryers from a single screen, and helped the company eliminate costly tag-based licensing limits while supporting 50 daily users with plans to expand.
