Goodnight Midstream cuts SCADA project time to 8 months with Inductive Automation

Goodnight Midstream, a produced water infrastructure company, faced significant challenges with its complex and unreliable point-to-point VPN network and a cumbersome legacy SCADA system. These issues caused frequent data transmission failures and made system maintenance and expansion difficult. To overcome this, they partnered with vendor Inductive Automation and its integrator, CSE ICON, to implement a new solution based on the Ignition platform.

Inductive Automation, via CSE ICON, implemented a new gateway architecture using Ignition Edge on Moxa devices and the MQTT protocol to replace the VPNs. This solution streamlined data transfer, enabled synced alarming across the distributed network, and provided a responsive HMI built with the Perspective Module. The results for Goodnight Midstream included a dramatically simplified and more secure IT infrastructure, the elimination of VPN-related issues, and a 75% reduction in the time required to add new data points to the system.
