Failsafe Controls - Customer Case Study

Failsafe Controls, a process automation and control systems firm serving the oil and gas industry, helped a major exploration and production company address rising costs and dependency on a third-party hosted process control and data acquisition service. The customer needed an in-house, web-based SCADA solution that could support 1,800 well sites, 120,000 I/O points, and daily access for about 300 employees while minimizing disruption during the transition. Ignition from Inductive Automation was selected for its web-based architecture, simple pricing, and strong support.

Using Ignition from Inductive Automation, Failsafe Controls built a customized SCADA system that mirrored the existing hosted service and enabled secure access from any web browser. The solution improved data collection, historical storage, reporting, and field access without per-user licensing costs, helping the customer avoid future price hikes as they scaled. After five months of use, the client reported zero downtime events, and the deployment gave them a stable, in-house control platform backed by Inductive Automation’s technical support.
