Brown Engineers - Customer Case Study

The City of Fort Smith Utility Department, working with system integrator Brown Engineers, faced the challenge of managing five separate legacy SCADA systems across four water and wastewater plants. The disparate Wonderware platforms created inconsistent HMI screens, fragmented data, and operational inefficiencies, making it difficult to train staff and maintain secure, continuous operations.

Brown Engineers implemented Ignition by Inductive Automation as a single, unified SCADA platform with gateway redundancy, standardized graphics, and centralized data access. The new system improved remote monitoring and troubleshooting, strengthened security, and cut reporting time from at least 1.5 hours to 30 minutes or less, while costing just two-thirds of what an upgrade to the old software would have cost.
