Baidu Maps, China’s leading mobile search and maps provider, needed highly accurate indoor positioning to expand indoor maps, location search, and proximity marketing across major venues at speed and low cost, on both Android and iOS. To meet this challenge, Baidu partnered with IndoorAtlas and used its PaaS-based indoor positioning capabilities.
IndoorAtlas helped Baidu roll out location-based services for Baidu Maps, initially focused on search and way-finding and planned for proximity marketing, across venues such as malls, airports, and train stations. The solution enabled Baidu to scale cost effectively, avoid installing and maintaining infrastructure, and support services for 270 million monthly active users, improving user satisfaction and engagement.
