Mumbai City Wi‑Fi, a state government–backed effort to provide free public Wi‑Fi across Mumbai, needed a secure, compliant and seamless hotspot experience for residents while also enabling monetization via advertisements and announcements. Indio Networks was engaged to deliver the operational and management stack, using its WIOS OSS/BSS and NMS solution to meet the program’s technical and compliance requirements.

Indio Networks deployed WIOS OSS/BSS and NMS in the MTNL data center, completed security audits, implemented SMS/OTP two‑factor authentication with one‑year user log retention, and monitored over 2,000 access points to sustain 99% uptime. The network now serves about 100,000 users daily, carries over 45 TB of data per week, and extended first‑time internet access to many low‑income neighborhoods while enabling citywide messaging and monetization opportunities.
