A Indio Networks Case Study
MSRTC, Maharashtra’s state road transport corporation and one of India’s largest bus operators with over 20,000 buses and millions of riders monthly, wanted to offer in‑bus entertainment and connectivity affordably at scale. Facing intense private competition, unreliable 3G/4G on intercity routes, and the need to manage many concurrent users, MSRTC sought a low‑cost, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi solution. They engaged Indio Networks, deploying Indio’s Unibox and access points (a purpose‑built Wi‑Fi router and hotspot platform) to deliver onboard entertainment and centralized network control.
Indio Networks supplied rugged Unibox routers and APs with centralized firmware management, captive portal/authentication, bandwidth and policy control, and support for 25–30 concurrent users at ~1 Mbps each. Deployed across ~20,000 buses with 2,000+ hours of onboard content, the solution improved coverage and reliability, reduced OpEx/CapEx and fault calls, enabled remote monitoring and analytics, and generated ad revenue. Within three months viewership exceeded 100,000 and grew by ~25,000 users per month, demonstrating clear uptake and monetization driven by Indio Networks’ deployment.
