Microsoft connects 35 buses with Indio Networks to boost commuter productivity

Microsoft, a world-leading software company, faced a challenge with employee productivity during long commutes on its bus fleet at its Hyderabad campus. They wanted to provide reliable, secure WiFi internet access to their employees while traveling, but needed a robust solution that could support over 40 users per bus and integrate with their corporate IT policies. The vendor, Indio Networks, provided its MobiMax MX-720AC dual-SIM 4G router and Cloud NMS solution to address this.

Indio Networks implemented a solution using rugged routers with two Airtel SIMs in an active-active configuration to bond 4G connections for increased bandwidth. After a successful trial, the system was deployed across all 35 buses. The results were highly positive: employee productivity increased as they could answer emails and access internal systems during their commute, and a post-deployment survey showed a marked improvement in employee satisfaction.
