Konnect Africa needed to bring reliable Internet to remote and semi‑urban communities across Sub‑Saharan Africa where fiber is uneconomical. The challenge was to deploy satellite‑based WiFi hotspots that were weatherproof (IP67), easy for low‑skill technicians to install, support ~40–45 concurrent users over a 100m radius, be powered over CAT‑5/PoE, and be manageable centrally via OSS/BSS and NMS. Indio Networks was engaged as the vendor to provide the centralized management and service platform for this deployment.

Indio Networks delivered the OSS/BSS, NMS, access controllers and a voucher/payment system to centrally manage and monetize the satellite WiFi kits, enabling plug‑and‑play field installs and remote monitoring. The solution supported successful trials across Nigeria, DRC, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Senegal and more, with over 100 hotspots operational by the end of 2019, immediate profitability in many locations, faster partner onboarding and installs completed in hours — laying the groundwork for scaling to thousands of sites.
