Case Study: Hamburg Airport achieves reliable, scalable free WiFi for 100K+ daily users with Indio Networks' WiFiLan

A Indio Networks Case Study

Preview of the Hamburg Airport Case Study

Improving Tourist Experiences with free WiFi

Hamburg Airport, one of Germany’s busiest terminals handling about 17 million passengers and roughly 150 thousand flight movements a year, needed free, fast and reliable WiFi that could scale across a large site, support BYOD, segregate staff/guest access, and integrate access points from multiple vendors. To meet these requirements, Hamburg Airport engaged Indio Networks and its cloud-based hotspot management product, WiFiLan, to provide a unified, easy-to-manage solution.

Indio Networks implemented WiFiLan to consolidate MikroTik and Cisco Meraki access points under a single console, deploy an intuitive captive portal, enforce compliance and URL filtering, and apply session-based fair-use and bandwidth policies with remote troubleshooting. The deployment increased WiFi adoption and passenger satisfaction—WiFi is now used by over 100K users daily—while ensuring equitable bandwidth distribution and simplified ongoing management by Indio Networks.
