Cancun International Airport - Customer Case Study

Cancun International Airport, one of the busiest international gateways in Mexico, needed a scalable, secure paid WiFi solution to serve high-density passenger traffic. The airport required user registration with government ID, bandwidth bifurcation and management, prepaid voucher sales, and integration with Prosa and PayPal — plus centralized control of roughly 50 access points. To meet these needs they engaged Indio Networks and deployed Indio Networks’ UniBox all‑in‑one controller.

Indio Networks implemented UniBox to provide integrated hotspot billing (Prosa & PayPal), custom landing pages, mandatory ID registration, BYOD support, per‑user bandwidth and time controls, and centralized remote management of access points. The deployment reduced fault calls, improved coverage and capacity (fewer APs required per area), enabled WiFi monetization and easier voucher sales, and increased passenger satisfaction; since the UniBox rollout in 2015, Cancún handled 23,601,509 passengers in 2017 (a 10.21% rise over 2016) alongside reported improvements in network reliability.
