Eight’s Backers Helped Turn This Idea Into A Connected Smart Mattress

Eight, founded by Matteo Franceschetti as Eight, set out to solve his own chronic sleep problems by building a proactive smart mattress cover (the Eight Sleep Tracker). Finding existing trackers inaccurate or intrusive, Eight turned to INDIEGOGO to validate demand, engage early users for product feedback, and fund development and production.

Using INDIEGOGO’s crowdfunding and InDemand services, Eight hit $100K in six hours, raised $1,228,079 from 5,975 contributions, and sold over 7,000 units to backers in 70+ countries while iterating on hardware and software with backer input. INDIEGOGO’s platform also helped Eight secure partnerships, scale manufacturing, and attract follow-on financing ($6M seed, $51M Series A), grow to a 17-person team, and continue selling the smart mattress cover on the Indiegogo Marketplace.
