Case Study: Proletariat achieves faster builds and on-time Spellbreak launch with Incredibuild Cloud

A Incredibuild Case Study

Preview of the Proletariat Case Study

Shipping an AAA Game Amid COVID-19 Lockdown

Proletariat, a Boston-based independent game developer behind Spellbreak, had relied on Incredibuild since 2018 to accelerate C++ builds, Unreal Engine shader compilation, and CI cooking. When COVID-19 forced the team to work from home, inconsistent home bandwidth, VPN limits, and hardware saturation prevented the usual distributed build grid, slowing developer builds and artist shader compiles just as the studio approached its launch deadline.

Proletariat implemented Incredibuild’s cloud framework in their AWS account (using Incredibuild cloud and the Enterprise Dashboard) so heavy processes were intercepted, broken into parallel jobs, and executed on EC2 instances, with shared instances and spot VMs to control cost. The result: PS4 full cook time dropped from 174 to 90 minutes and a 25-minute code build fell to 16 minutes, enabling on-time shipping while substantially reducing infrastructure spend with Incredibuild.
