Accelerating Goanna Studio, Red Lizard Software’ s flagship static analysis product, to deliver maximum value to the user

Red Lizard Software, maker of the Goanna Studio static analysis tool for C/C++, faced the challenge of delivering deep, precise code analysis within fast-paced agile and continuous-integration environments that can produce many builds per day. To meet goals of minimizing analysis time, tightly integrating with Visual Studio, and keeping existing Goanna features intact, Red Lizard evaluated and selected Incredibuild’s distributed build solution.

Using Incredibuild’s extensibility interfaces, Red Lizard “spawned” Goanna’s backend analysis engine across networked machines and implemented local analysis databases that are merged in a post-run synchronization step. The Incredibuild-enabled solution scales across servers, notebooks and VMs, delivers an almost linear speed-up as clients are added with only marginal network overhead, and makes Goanna Studio a near turn-key option for existing Incredibuild customers—significantly reducing analysis runtime and enabling practical grid-computing performance.
