Indiegala Ramps Up Security of Its Online Gaming Distribution Platform

Indiegala is a digital game distribution platform with over 3.2 million registered users, offering 2,000+ titles and handling 2.5–3 million monthly sessions and 85,000 payment transactions. Hosting on Google Cloud left gaps in specialized web application security and bot/DDoS protection, so Indiegala needed visibility into application traffic, granular control to block malicious bots and targeted attacks, and the flexibility to create custom rules and blacklists without disrupting legitimate users.

Indiegala deployed Imperva Incapsula’s cloud-based WAF and global CDN with always-on DDoS protection, using built-in protections plus custom IncapRules to block abusive IPs and high-rate requests. The service transparently mitigated two large network DDoS attacks (the largest at 17.8 Gbps), stopped brute-force and key-stealing bot attacks, accelerated the site by filtering unwanted traffic, cut bandwidth costs, and delivered zero downtime — all after a one-week self-led deployment.
