Balancing Act Pollution Controls Versus Energy Demand

The European Research Center, a European research center, faced the challenge of balancing energy demand with pollution control from fossil-fuel power plants. Using IMSL's subroutines for statistical processing, Monte Carlo simulations, and random number generation, the center developed highly accurate mathematical models. These IMSL-powered models simulated atmospheric dispersion, predicted ground-level pollution concentrations, and forecasted weather to anticipate energy demand. The solution delivered real-time, reliable results that were validated against real-world systems, enabling the electricity board to make operational decisions that minimized environmental impact.
