Proving the impact of time-savings and reducing physician burnout with single sign-on

CHRISTUS Health is an independent delivery network operating across six U.S. states with 49 hospitals, 350 other services, and more than 15,000 clinicians using a MEDITECH EHR. Like many health systems, CHRISTUS faced clinician frustration with EHR usability, time lost to recalling and resetting many passwords, and workflow complexity that contributed to inefficiency and physician burnout.

CHRISTUS deployed Imprivata OneSign single sign-on enterprise-wide (2015–2018) to speed secure access as clinicians roam the hospital and simplify password management. After rollout, first-of-shift logins fell from 34.6s to 29.3s (15.3% reduction) and reconnect logins from 29.3s to 8.9s (69.6% reduction), freeing 943 keyboard hours weekly (49,057 hours annually) and delivering about $3.2M in annual value; virtualization further improved performance and adoption across 19 facilities and 45+ clinical applications.
