Finding the Password for Productive Military Medicine Research

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is a nonprofit healthcare research organization supporting more than 1,000 projects with about 1,700 employees. As application passwords proliferated, helpdesk requests surged, staff resorted to insecure password practices, and IT lacked the ability to track or report on user access—creating security and audit challenges.

HJF deployed the Imprivata OneSign single sign-on appliance in a phased rollout across roughly 20 applications and 250–300 users. The easy, appliance-based implementation required minimal training, eliminated password headaches, reduced helpdesk calls and costs, tightened desktop security, and added robust tracking and reporting for audits while enabling future capabilities like strong authentication and physical/IT security convergence.
