Case Study: El Camino Hospital achieves secure remote access and EPCS compliance with Imprivata Confirm ID

A Imprivata Case Study

Preview of the El Camino Hospital Case Study

Ensuring secure, streamlined multifactor authentication workflows for remote access and EPCS

El Camino Hospital, a 447‑bed health system in Mountain View and Los Gatos, CA with over 4,000 staff and Epic EHR, needed to strengthen defenses against phishing and other cyberattacks, protect PHI, secure admin/privileged access, and meet EPCS multifactor authentication regulations — all without disrupting clinical workflows.

El Camino deployed Imprivata Confirm ID (with Imprivata OneSign) to provide push‑token and multiple convenient authentication methods, streamlined self- or help‑desk enrollment, and DEA‑compliant identity proofing for EPCS. The solution was rolled out in about three months: remote access enrollment grew from 1,281 of 1,553 scoped users at go‑live to more than 1,700, and EPCS enabled 50 ED physicians at soft launch with 300+ prescribers supported (with capacity for more). Outcomes included stronger remote‑access security, end‑to‑end EPCS compliance, and consistent, efficient MFA experiences across workflows.
