Delivering fast, safe, and secure access to clinical applications and vital signs devices with Imprivata

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the UK’s largest trusts with 17,000+ staff across six sites, needed to modernize access to clinical systems after a legacy observations system failed in its busy Renal unit. Clinicians were logging into around nine separate applications per session on shared workstations and reverting to paper for vital signs, creating delays, manual work and barriers to real-time care — the trust required faster, scalable access without compromising security.

The trust deployed Imprivata OneSign Single Sign‑on and Authentication Management plus Imprivata Medical Device Access to enable badge-tap logins and secure device access; 4,500+ staff now use SSO daily, with 60 apps profiled and 2,400 clinical devices activated. Patient observations from Welch Allyn devices are automatically logged into the Renal information system in real time, improving data governance, removing manual entry, speeding workflows and enabling quicker, better-informed clinical decisions and improved patient care.
