County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) — an ambitious integrated NHS organisation serving over 650,000 people with a workforce of 7,000+ — faced inefficient, stressful workflows as a new EMR and many clinical apps required clinicians to repeatedly log in and out on handheld devices. Rising mobile use amplified the problem, creating fragmented access to patient data and driving the need for a single sign-on, secure, mobile-ready solution to improve point-of-care efficiency and staff experience.

CDDFT opted for a collaborative, big‑bang deployment that combined Oracle Cerner Millennium and CareAware, Medanets, 1,000 Zebra devices (plus Samsung legacy devices) and Imprivata OneSign Single Sign‑On with Imprivata Mobile User Access Management for Android. The integrated stack created a single, accessible view of patient records, enabled secure “tap-and-go” access for ~600 daily mobile users, reduced workload and frustration, increased bedside time for clinicians, and streamlined clinical workflows across the trust.
