Atlantic Health System, a New Jersey–based health network serving roughly five million people across more than 400 sites, faced high rates of duplicate medical records, EHR inaccuracies, patient safety and satisfaction concerns, revenue-cycle inefficiencies, and risks of identity and insurance fraud.

To address this, Atlantic Health implemented Imprivata PatientSecure’s biometric palm-vein scanning for positive patient identification across the system. The rollout cut duplicate records from 18% to 0.03%, increased clinician confidence in EHR accuracy, streamlined patient registration, improved revenue and reimbursement efficiencies, strengthened fraud protection, and helped optimize patient safety and experience; the solution is now required for new departments and a touchless palm-scanner pilot is planned.
