A Flexible Foundation for CJIS Compliance

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office in central Florida, responsible for law enforcement across one of the state’s largest counties (about 1,800 employees), needed to roll out integrated public-safety and administrative applications while meeting FBI CJIS mandates. Staff were struggling with dozens of separate logins, complex password requirements and limited budgets, making CJIS compliance and secure, auditable access difficult to enforce.

PCSO implemented Imprivata OneSign in a phased rollout (three appliances, Active Directory integration) to provide single sign-on and support multiple strong-authentication methods. The deployment delivered immediate benefits—fewer helpdesk password resets, automated auditing and reporting, streamlined access for deputies—and established a flexible, scalable platform that met CJIS Phase 1 requirements and enables phased Phase 2 strong-authentication rollout across county agencies (targeting ~2,500 users).
