Reddit partnered with Imply to tackle a high-volume advertising analytics challenge. Reddit generates tens of gigabytes of event data per hour and needed to support interactive queries across the last six months of data—hundreds of billions of raw events—so advertisers could quickly understand campaign impact and optimize spending. The solution was built on Apache Druid and Imply, including Imply Pivot for faster time-to-value.
With Imply, Reddit was able to ingest events directly from Kafka and its data lake and deliver real-time analytics for ad campaign performance. The results included 2–3x faster queries, dropping from about 2 seconds to subsecond response times, improved system availability to 99.9%, and faster analyst and advertiser workflows through Imply Pivot.
