Atlassian’s Confluence Analytics Experience team, responsible for surfacing user behavior insights in Confluence, needed a high-performance, scalable analytics database to support interactive, high-concurrency queries and growing data retention. After finding PostgreSQL unable to scale or deliver low-latency results, Atlassian chose Imply and deployed Imply Enterprise Hybrid (the enterprise distribution of Apache Druid) to run in their VPC with Imply’s management control plane.

Imply delivered a real-time, easy-to-manage analytics platform that replaced the PostgreSQL-based pipeline and enabled massive gains: up to 5X performance improvements, sub-100 ms latencies, five years-plus of data retention, and reliable funnel analysis on up to two years of data with real-time ingestion and aggregation. Atlassian also benefits from simpler cluster configuration using Imply Manager, meeting their need for speed, scale, and operational ease.
