A IMPLAN Case Study
Mayo Clinic, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare organizations in the U.S., faced a challenge in quantifying its vast economic contributions to its local and national economies. Its significant role as an economic driver was largely unknown to the public, making it difficult to garner support and recognition for its operations. To solve this, they commissioned a study using the vendor IMPLAN's economic impact data and modeling tool.
IMPLAN was used to perform a detailed economic impact analysis, measuring the direct, indirect, and induced effects of Mayo Clinic's spending on employment, income, and tax revenue. The results provided solid, quantifiable evidence of the clinic's value, which was widely publicized and garnered significant positive attention from news outlets and other organizations. This newfound recognition helped build public support and was a factor in Mayo Clinic's subsequent announcements of major expansions and partnerships, further solidifying its role as an economic giant.
