A IMPLAN Case Study
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) needed to demonstrate the vast economic impact of recreational fishing to advocate for the Modern Fish Act. Their challenge was moving beyond national figures to show specific value in each state and Congressional district to effectively persuade legislators. To achieve this, they partnered with IMPLAN and used its economic input-output modeling application and data.
Using IMPLAN, the ASA quantified the total economic value, labor income, jobs supported, and tax revenue generated by recreational fishing for every state and Congressional district. This granular data was packaged into targeted infographics for lawmakers. This solution was instrumental in the bill's passage, providing a resonant economic argument that helped secure overwhelming bipartisan support. IMPLAN's data directly helped the ASA translate local economic impacts into successful national policymaking.
