SA Power Networks Protects web applications and API endpoints with Imperva Application Security

SA Power Networks is South Australia’s sole electricity distributor, delivering power to roughly 900,000 homes and businesses. As a national critical infrastructure provider facing constant cyber threats and new SOCI regulatory requirements, the company needed to protect web applications and increasingly exposed APIs while ensuring uninterrupted service for customers.

SA Power Networks extended its long-running Imperva Cloud WAF deployment with Imperva API Security after a simple POC that automatically discovered and classified API endpoints and flagged unauthenticated resources. The combined solution helped the team close sensitive-data gaps, align with DevSecOps practices, and provide actionable metrics — and during a three-day DDoS it deflected about 18.5 million malicious attempts, preventing service disruption and strengthening stakeholder confidence.
