A Imperva Case Study
1207/1307, the leading directory service in Belgium with a database of more than 8 million phone numbers and addresses delivered via a call center and self-service websites, was facing extensive web-scraping by automated bots. Those attacks threatened the integrity of the database and the company’s ability to sell enriched data to business customers; manual monitoring, IP blocking and legal actions proved expensive, slow and ineffective.
The customer deployed Imperva Bot Management as a virtual appliance (full implementation in about a week) to stop bots at the website perimeter. The solution now runs unattended, removing one-third of web traffic (all identified as malicious), serving over 8 million CAPTCHAs in 30 days with an extremely low false-positive rate, boosting infrastructure performance, supporting projected 20% annual growth, and saving the company upwards of €100,000 per year in investigation and legal costs.
