Sainsbury’s, the UK’s second-largest supermarket chain, wanted to help its graduates build greater self-awareness, strengthen interpersonal skills, and understand its leadership behaviours in a team environment. Working with Impact International, the company looked for a more experiential alternative to its traditional corporate graduate induction.
Impact International designed a community action learning programme based at a primary school, where graduates worked in teams on a green-themed project that brought Sainsbury’s values and sustainability to life. The experience included a half-day induction and a Learning Pod to support reflection, and it delivered stronger self-awareness, camaraderie, and a successful community outcome aligned to Sainsbury’s values; no specific numerical metrics were provided.
