A Impact International Case Study

IOM - Customer Case Study

IOM, the International Organization for Migration, was helping lead the emergency shelter response after the devastating 2005 Pakistan earthquake, which left nearly 80,000 people dead and more than three million homeless. Facing remote mountain communities, severe winter conditions, and an overwhelmed relief effort, IOM needed experienced field support to manage shelter operations effectively. Impact International provided two senior consultants to support this critical humanitarian response.

Impact International deployed its consultants to Batagram and Balakot to lead field teams, establish offices, manage logistics and distribution, coordinate with civil and military authorities, work with NGOs and UN agencies, and set up Remote Assessment Teams. The effort helped IOM distribute about 100,000 tents, build 40,000 temporary shelters, and deliver 100,000 corrugated iron sheets, reaching more than 500,000 people.
